High Availability through Software

Several architectural characteristics unique to DataCore high availability provide for uninterrupted access to replicated storage resources

First a caution. Some in the industry loosely define high availability to mean no data loss and "minimal downtime" in the event of a component failure. DataCore adheres to the stricter interpretation. Our software eliminates single points of failure in the storage infrastructure to prevent data loss and provide continuous data availability.   It's been a longstanding, distinguishing attribute of our solutions. That's why you'll hear our customers and partners emphasize Business Continuity through prevention where others would have you settle for remediation after suffering an outage.

Another warning. Synchronous mirroring alone does not prevent downtime, especially when the mirrored copy is kept offline. Our design offers active-active access to synchronously mirrored virtual disks held in physically separated DataCore nodes, through whichever redundant path is available. A diagram should make this clearer.
