One misconception is that DataCore competes with storage devices (eg, storage arrays). In reality, DataCore is a software-only solution that virtualizes storage devices and, therefore, complements storage devices that ‘come and go’ within the infrastructure. DataCore avoids the ‘rip and replace’ approach typically needed to deploy virtualization projects, instead existing storage devices can be utilized and productivity and cost savings can be enhanced. DataCore requires storage devices and, therefore, it is often installed along with solutions from HP, EMC, Dell, NetAPP, Hitachi, IBM and the many other storage array and device vendor offerings in the marketplace. Think of DataCore like VMware or Microsoft software, where the choice of the underlying hardware being virtualized (HP, IBM, Dell servers) is a wholly separate decision. DataCore’s unique software-only
solutions allow both a competitive advantage and the opportunity to co-sell with, and improve upon, these and other hardware solutions.
